Patrick Rawn, the owner/manager of Copeland Vineyard, told me about this vineyard of old-vine Cabernet Sauvignon, planted by Paul Porteus in 1985. Its location in the Rattlesnake Hills is a place where moderate alcohol levels and balanced flavors can be found in even the warmest of years. This 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, aged in all neutral French oak, offers flavors of vibrant red-fruit and earth, along with silky smooth tannins, unusual for a wine this young. Although drinkable and delicious now, this wine should age gracefully.

Destemmed and lightly crushed berries, along with some whole-berry fermentation, pressed just before dryness. Final pH=3.65, TA=6.3g/L

ELEVAGE
12-months in French oak barrels, 20% new.
Alcohol: 14.0%

TASTING NOTES
Expressive notes of blackberry, leather, tobacco leaf, backed by supple tannins.
